چکیده

We report on a device capable of imaging second-order spatio-temporal correlations g(x, τ) between photons. The imager is based on a monolithic array of singlephoton avalanche diodes (SPADs) implemented in CMOS technology and a simple algorithm to treat multiphoton time-of-arrival distributions from different SPAD pairs. It is capable of 80 ps temporal resolution with fluxes as low as 10 photons/s at room temperature. An important application might be the local imaging of g as a means of confirming the presence of true Bose-Einstein macroscopic coherence (BEC) of cavity exciton polaritons. Submitted to: New J. Phys.

Modulation Response and Relative Intensity Noise Spectra in Quantum Cascade Lasers

Static properties, relatively intensity noise and intensity modulation response in quantum cascade lasers (QCLs) studied theoretically in this paper. The present rate equations model consists of three equations for the electrons density in the conduction band and one equation for photons density in cavity length. Two equations were derived to calculate the noise and modulation response. Calcula...

A biomorphic digital image sensor

An arbitrated address-event imager has been designed and fabricated in a 0.6-μm CMOS process. The imager is composed of 80 x 60 pixels of 32 x 30 μm. The value of the light intensity collected by each photosensitive element is inversely proportional to the pixel’s interspike time interval. The readout of each spike is initiated by the individual pixel; therefore, the available output bandwidth ...

Noise characteristics of correlated two-photon production via parametric down-conversion

This paper gives a review of the phase and intensity quantum correlation between two photons in the process of optical parametric down-conversion (OPDC). Special emphasis is on the squeezed spectrum and squeezed intensity fluctuations in non-degenerate OPDC above threshold. Several experimental results of squeezed spectra and sub shot-noise intensity fluctuations are presented. PACS number(s): ...

A Non-Demolition Photon Counting Method by Four-Level Inverted Y-Type Atom

The semi-classical model of atom-field interaction has been fully studied for some multilevel atoms, e.g. Vee, L, Cascade X , Y, and inverted Y and so on. This issue is developed into the full-quantum electrodynamics formalism, where the probe and coupling electromagnetic fields are quantized. In this article, we investigate the full-quantum model of absorption and dispersion spectrum of trappe...

Optimal estimation in polarimetric imaging in the presence of correlated noise fluctuations.

We quantitatively analyze how a polarization-sensitive imager can overcome the precision of a standard intensity camera when estimating a parameter on a polarized source over an intense background. We show that the gain is maximized when the two polarimetric channels are perturbed with significantly correlated noise fluctuations. An optimal estimator is derived and compared to standard intensit...
